Fuerte de Aranguren is a neo-medieval fortress built in the mid-nineteenth century to secure Ceuta's border with Morocco. Constructed following the War of Wad-Ras with Morocco, this defensive structure was part of a strategic series of watchtowers designed to prevent external aggression and control the mountainous terrain closing the Ceuta peninsula. The fort exemplifies nineteenth-century military architecture and remains a notable historical landmark. Today it serves as a hiking destination with trails connecting it to other significant fortifications in Ceuta's border defense complex.
