Fortí de Sant Jordi

The Fortí de Sant Jordi is a bastion constructed in 1709 by the English military during the War of Spanish Succession, strategically positioned to defend Tarragona's coastline near Miracle beach. This trapezoidal fortification, built with masonry and stone, was designated a Cultural Good of National Interest and played a significant defensive role during the Peninsular War in the early 19th century. Though access to the site can be challenging and visiting hours may vary, the fort offers views of the Mediterranean coast and represents an important example of early 18th-century military architecture in Catalonia.
