Forte Marechal Luz is a historic coastal fortress located on João Dias point at the northern entrance to São Francisco do Sul, Santa Catarina. Built in the early 18th century by the Portuguese to defend Babitonga Bay from foreign invaders, the fortress was formally inaugurated on December 21, 1915, and is named after Marshal Francisco Carlos da Luz (1830-1906). Positioned 15 km from the historic center on a strategic headland, the fort features a coastal artillery battery with four cannons and offers panoramic views of Babitonga Bay and the Graças Archipelago. Today it serves as a popular tourist destination showcasing Brazil's maritime defense heritage and providing visitors with stunning coastal vistas.
