Schloss Forchtenstein, also known as Europaburg, is a 12th-century castle in Neumarkt, Styria, now serving as an educational and cultural center. With its foundation dating to approximately 1150 and first documented owner in 1187, the fortress evolved into the castle's current form by 1497. The core structure consists of a four-story tower house in the northwest with fortress walls extending in an elongated rectangle. Since 1957, the castle has operated as Europe's first federalist meeting place and educational institution, situated within the Zirbitzkogel-Grebenzen Nature Park, one of Styria's seven protected nature reserves.
