Fels am Wagram Castle

Fels am Wagram is a traditional market town in Lower Austria's Tulln district, situated on the scenic Wagram mountain range approximately 40 kilometres west of Vienna. The municipality encompasses several historic castles, including Schloss Fels, which now houses the town's local history museum displaying artifacts from everyday life of previous generations, and features the Schloss Fels winery, one of Austria's largest, with wine cellar origins extending to the 13th century. Schloss Thürnthal, a moated castle combining baroque and classical architectural styles, dates in its current form to around 1589 and was originally constructed in the 13th century before being destroyed by Turkish forces in 1525. The town's convenient location makes it accessible via train and the Kamp Valley road, serving as a gateway to Danube region culture and viticulture.
