Evelick Castle

Evelick Castle is a late 16th-century L-plan tower house in Carse of Gowrie, Perth and Kinross, overlooking the Tay from high on the Sidlaw hills five miles east of Perth. Built by an offshoot of the influential Lindsay family of Crawford, the castle features a circular stair tower and considerable gunloops reflecting its defensive design. Designated a scheduled monument of national importance for its contribution to understanding period domestic architecture, the building remains in steady decline and stands as a candidate for restoration among Perthshire's important historical landmarks.
