Drumin Castle

Drumin Castle rises dramatically as a 15th-century fortified tower house on a ridge above the confluence of the Rivers Livet and Avon in Moray, Scotland. Built on what was likely an Iron Age settlement, the castle is famously associated with Alexander Stewart, the 'Wolf of Badenoch,' though Sir Walter Stewart, his grandson, constructed the current structure in the late 1400s before selling it to the Earl of Huntly in 1490. The castle features thick stone walls of coarse whin and freestone rubble, a barrel-vaulted cellar, corbelled parapets, and decorative sandstone fireplaces. Since opening to visitors in 2005, a 500-meter woodland footpath leads from a riverside carpark, offering impressive views and connection to a longer 2-mile circular riverside walk.
