Doonbeg Castle

Doonbeg Castle is a 16th-century tower house built by the MacMahon clan in County Clare, standing approximately 70 feet high on the coast of Ireland's Atlantic west. Originally constructed for Daniel O'Brien, the Earl of Thomond, the castle overlooks the Doonbeg River flowing into Dunmore Bay. The stronghold features a spiral staircase leading to the summit, offering sweeping views across the scenic landscapes. Though now in ruins, Doonbeg Castle remains a notable historical landmark, with its remaining fortifications visible near an early 19th-century seven-arched stone bridge that crosses the river and divides the village.
