Le Donjon de Rouen is the last remaining vestige of Rouen Castle and stands as a testament to the city's history from the Hundred Years' War through World War II. Developed through collaboration between medieval historians and approximately thirty traditional craftspeople specializing in historical techniques, the site represents scientific rigor in its reconstruction of a 1210-era medieval fortress. Visitor experiences include guided tours led by professional mediators, immersive live-action roleplay 'Mission 1210' blending theatrical elements with period accuracy, nighttime visits showcasing atmospheric medieval settings, family-focused tours for young visitors, and self-guided exploration options. Part of the Rouen Sites et Monuments network, the Donjon offers an authentically reconstructed medieval experience.
