The Donjon de Labuissière is a 20-meter-tall dungeon tower and the only remaining vestige of a castle built in the 12th century in Bruay-la-Buissière, Pas-de-Calais. Constructed around 1310 by Countess Mahaut d'Artois to defend against English and Spanish invasions, the original site was a country residence built in 1217 by the La Buissière family. The dungeon features a 94-step staircase, three-meter-thick sandstone walls with vaulted ceilings supported by original stone columns, and shields bearing the lord's coat of arms. Open year-round with free access, this historic structure offers insight into medieval fortification and aristocratic life.
