Crookstown is a small village in County Cork situated between Macroom and the N22 Cork–Killarney road. The area contains two significant castle ruins from the medieval period: Clodagh Castle, a 16th-century fortification with a fireplace dated 1598, once home to a branch of the McSweeney clan; and Castlemore (Dundrinan) Castle, which lies near the Castlemore Quarries northeast of the village. These tower houses reflect the strategic importance of the region during the Tudor period and the territorial holdings of established Gaelic families.
