Clomantagh Castle

Clomantagh Castle, originally built in the 1430s near Freshford in County Kilkenny, is a 15th-century tower house featuring distinctive historical carvings including a Sheela na gig relief on its walls. The castle was held by prominent nobility including Piers Butler, 8th Earl of Ormond, and his successors through the 16th century. Over subsequent centuries, additional outbuildings and a connected 19th-century farmhouse were added to the complex. Today, the castle has been meticulously restored and operates as a holiday rental accommodation, sleeping up to 10 guests across 5 bedrooms and offering visitors the rare opportunity to experience life within a carefully preserved medieval fortification.
