Château Rocher is a dramatic medieval fortress perched on a 150-meter-high spur overlooking the Sioule river valley in Saint-Rémy-de-Blot, Puy-de-Dôme, in the Auvergne region. Originally a 9th-century motte built on the strategically important site, the castle was substantially developed between the 11th and 15th centuries, serving as a military stronghold to monitor the Sioule valley and control the Menat bridge between historical regions. The romantic ruins showcase 13th-century construction with evidence of earlier fortification, and the castle has been a protected historical monument since 1913. Today, the privately-owned castle is managed by the Association Château-Rocher, which offers guided tours during summer months and continues efforts to preserve this atmospheric landmark.
