Château de Louvignies

Château de Louvignies near Soignies is a 19th-century castle distinguished by its impressive neo-Renaissance architecture, featuring characteristic turrets and decorative chimneys. Though designated as a lordship seat in 1389, the current structure originated with the 1716 construction by Governor of Charleroi Rodrigo de Peralta, and underwent comprehensive renovation in 1870 under architects Désiré Limbourg and Louis Fuchs. The interior preserves the elegant Belle Epoque atmosphere with original furnishings and household items, while the expansive English-style park spans 15 hectares and contains remarkable specimens including Virginia tulip trees and weeping silver limes. The château has served as a filming location for prominent movies including Claude Berri's Germinal and François Ozon's Angel, and welcomes group tours by appointment in English, French, and Dutch.
