Château de Duras is an imposing fortress built between the 12th and 18th centuries, towering over the Dropt valley in southwestern France. Originally constructed in the 12th century on a rocky outcrop by the Bouville family, it later became the residence of the Dukes of Duras and passed through several noble families until the 19th century. The castle contains approximately 30 rooms showcasing centuries of architectural evolution, from medieval fortifications to 17th and 18th-century Renaissance-inspired refinements. After centuries of conflict and abandonment, the city of Duras purchased and began restoring the château in 1969, transforming it into a fascinating historical monument.
