Château de Couzages stands as a Gothic fortress in the commune of Chasteaux, Corrèze, at the edge of Lac du Causse near the tripoint of Corrèze, Lot, and Dordogne departments. First mentioned in the 11th century and rebuilt in the 13th, the château once commanded the Couze valley as a strategic stronghold of the Viscounty of Turenne. The ruins feature a square tower, chapel, main building, round tower with spiral staircase, and multiple square towers with traces of machicolations, organized in a rectangular plan. Classified as a historical monument in 1996, the castle vestiges and domain represent layers of occupation by prominent families including the La Rochefoucaulds and Polignacs.
