Château de Courrière in Assesse is a fortified 17th-century farm, or château-ferme, built around 1622 as a rectangular sandstone and limestone structure flanked by defensive towers. Originally surrounded by moats and accessed via drawbridge, the complex features two inner courtyards articulating its high and lower court sections. Used for agriculture until 1976, the castle fell into disrepair before the Catholic Scouting Federation acquired and restored it beginning in 1987. Now refurbished as a social tourism center with 118 beds and 13 meeting spaces, Château de Courrière combines heritage preservation with contemporary hospitality, serving schools, organizations, and corporate guests in Wallonia's heart near Namur.
