Château de Comborn rises dramatically on a narrow rocky outcrop in Orgnac-sur-Vézère, Corrèze, dominating approximately 70 meters above a meander of the Vézère river. Dating from the 11th century, the fortress occupies a site originally known as a Gallic oppidum and housed one of Limousin's most powerful medieval seigneurial dynasties, the Viscounts of Comborn. The castle gained additional fame as a residence of Honoré-Gabriel Riqueti, comte de Mirabeau, the renowned orator of the French Revolution, who visited his sister the Marquise du Saillant. Now partially listed as a historical monument, the castle received financial support in 2019 from the French Ministry of Culture for preservation and restoration efforts.
