Château de Clermont-Dessous is a historic medieval fortress in Lot-et-Garonne, perched on a hilltop overlooking the Garonne River. Originally fortified as early as the 11th century, the current ensemble dates from the 13th century and underwent reconstruction in the first half of the 18th century, followed by elevation in the 1840s. The castle is strategically positioned to protect the weakest part of the hill and separated from the village by a moat. Protected as a historical monument since 2013, the entire domain—comprising the castle, terraces, chapel, orangery, commons, stables, dovecote, and gardens—represents a comprehensive example of French provincial heritage architecture and landscape design.
