Château de Bressieux is a spectacular 13th-century feudal fortress constructed in distinctive pink brick, dominating a height overlooking the Bièvre plain in Isère's Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The castle was the seat of one of Dauphiné's four baronies, elevated to a marquisate by King Louis XIII in 1612. Medieval documents mention the site as early as 1107, though the current brick structure dates to the mid-13th century when Aymard VI rebuilt much of the fortress and the keep was constructed in 1276. The imposing ruins with their crenellated and machicolated towers, parapets, and dry moats exemplify medieval military architecture and testify to the château's powerful historical role. Now freely accessible to visitors and protected as a historical monument since 1904, the site also hosts live action role-playing events.
