Château de Barrière stands in Villamblard in the Dordogne, a medieval fortress anchored by a 13th-century keep rising 32.5 meters, originally built to protect the road connecting Agen to Périgueux. Partially destroyed by Huguenots in 1575, the castle showcases a duality of styles: its medieval military side features the original imposing keep, while a Renaissance wing inspired by Italian villas was designed by Jacquette de Montbron in the 16th century. Today, it houses important collections of Périgord heritage, including fossils, prehistoric artifacts, and cast iron objects, serving as a cultural center for the village with regular exhibitions and events.
