Château d'Argenteuil

Château d'Argenteuil is a prestigious estate spanning 143 hectares across Waterloo, Ohain, and La Hulpe in Brabant wallon. Construction began in 1837 but the original château burned immediately upon completion in 1847; architect Jean-Pierre Cluysenaar designed a replacement built between 1856-1858. In 1929, U.S. Ambassador to Belgium Mr. Tuck purchased the estate and expanded it significantly. Following acquisition by the Belgian National Railway in 1949 and transfer to the Belgian state in 1950, the domain became King Leopold III's residence in 1960. The estate now houses the European School of Bruxelles-Argenteuil, a private European School founded in 2016.
