Château Bivort in the Charleroi region represents a 19th-century industrial success story transformed into a cultural landmark. Built between 1868-1869 for glassworks master Henri-Joseph Bivort, the château sits within a magnificent seven-hectare English-style park featuring rare and exotic tree species, ponds, and natural landscape features. Following the company's liquidation in 1967, the Belgian state acquired the property and transferred it to the municipality. Though the original château was largely destroyed, the park opened to the public in 1976 and remains a notable example of Walloon industrial heritage and landscape design.
