Charles Fort is a massive star-shaped military fortress in Kinsale, County Cork, designed by William Robinson in the late 17th century. Its impressive outer defences reach 16 metres high, and the ramparts offer spectacular views overlooking Kinsale Harbour. The fort witnessed pivotal moments in Irish history, withstanding a 13-day siege during the Williamite Wars and experiencing burning by anti-Treaty forces in the 1920s.
