Castle Villedieu Filled

Château de la Villedieu-de-Comblé spans the communes of La Mothe-Saint-Héray and Sainte-Eanne in Deux-Sèvres, built over three centuries from the 15th to 17th century. The owner obtained permission from King Charles VII in the 15th century to construct a fortified residence to resist English forces. The château's façades, roofs, and notable outbuildings have been inscribed as historic monuments, with interior highlights including a coffered-ceiling staircase and dining room fireplace on the first floor. Located on Rue du Château, this fortress exemplifies the residential and defensive architecture of transitional medieval-to-modern periods in the Poitou-Charentes region.
