Château de Presles in Aiseau-Presles near Charleroi is a 19th-century castle set within a 200-hectare park surrounded by stone walls. Originally established in the 14th-15th centuries, the estate was held by successive noble families including the Rumigny, Haneffe, and Enghien-Havré families before passing to the d'Oultremont family in 1625. In 1851, architect Alphonse Balat directed a comprehensive reconstruction, and between 1859-1860, painter François Stroobant enhanced interiors with decorative frescoes, creating multiple salons decorated with original period furniture.
