The Castle of Los Moros is an 18th-century fortress located on a hilltop in Cartagena's Santa Lucía neighborhood, Spain, designed to protect the bastioned Hospital de Marina and control the Gates of San José. Built according to neoclassical principles influenced by the French-Spanish military school, the castle rises 56 meters above sea level with four entrances, including prominent north and south bastions. The fortress was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest on August 7, 1997. Though currently abandoned and freely accessible, the structure remains a testament to the era's sophisticated defensive engineering and Cartagena's strategic importance as a Mediterranean port city.
