The Castle of Jehay in Amay, Belgium, is a 16th-century Mosan Renaissance masterpiece notable for its distinctive checkerboard pattern of white stone and red brick. Originally rebuilt around 1550 by the De Sart family, the castle passed to the De Mérode family through marriage and remained in their hands for nearly 150 years. Today it functions as a provincial museum, housing an impressive collection accumulated by Count Guy van den Steen, including furniture, sculptures, porcelain, carpets, books, and silverware. The moated castle is set within charming gardens and remains one of the finest examples of Renaissance architecture in the region.
