Castle of Buc

Château du Haut-Buc is located in the town of Buc, Yvelines, several kilometers south of Versailles in the historic Île-de-France region. Originally established as a Louis XIV estate associated with the royal family, the initial castle was destroyed in 1741 following political changes at court. The current château was rebuilt in 1866 by wealthy Parisian businessman Léon Thomas, subsequently owned by figures including astronomer Gentilli di Giuseppe, who installed telescopes in the gardens. Today the castle functions as a cultural venue and music school, hosting art exhibitions and various events throughout the year, with the Buc annual festival taking place in the adjacent park each June.
