Castle Gascherie, located on the banks of the Erdre River near Nantes, represents Renaissance Breton aristocratic architecture from the 15th and 16th centuries. Built by Pierre Landais and once the birthplace of the renowned Huguenot captain François de La Noue, the castle was deeply restored in the 19th century by architect Jules de la Morandière. Registered as a historical monument in 2001, the castle remains a private property whose elegant Renaissance facades and restored rooflines can be admired from Route de la Gascherie.
