Castle Dürnkrut

Castle Dürnkrut is the most prominent landmark of the market town of Dürnkrut in Lower Austria's Weinviertel region, first documented in 1160. This Renaissance palace showcases architectural elegance with its Sala Terrena and features a historically significant diorama depicting the 1278 battle between King Ottokar of Bohemia and Rudolf of Habsburg. The castle houses an Archaeology and Palaeontology Museum, the palace chapel—a popular wedding venue—and serves as the municipal administration center and registry office. Today, the castle offers two wedding halls for private celebrations and functions as a museum, though public visits are available by guided tour appointment only, preserving the castle's intimate historical character.
