Castle Chéronne

Château de Chéronne is a historic castle in Tuffé Val de la Chéronne in Sarthe, 18 kilometres southwest of La Ferté-Bernard, with extraordinary continuity of family ownership spanning centuries. The property's origins trace to a wooden seigniorial building from 1370, making it exceptionally rare for remaining with descendants of the same family throughout subsequent centuries. The present structure features a gatehouse built around 1490, the oldest standing element, with the main Renaissance-style château constructed primarily in the 16th century and originally surrounded by a moat.
