Castle Blauwhuis in Izegem, West Flanders, is a neoclassical masterpiece with documented roots stretching to 1544, though it assumed its current form in the 1880s. The castle's name derives from the distinctive blue slate roof of the original tenant farm. Designated a protected monument in 1981, the 11.2-hectare estate was opened to the public in 2017 through collaboration between the City of Izegem and the property owner. The English landscape-style park features a thriving blue heron colony in its deciduous woodland and hosts art exhibitions, concerts, and theatrical performances year-round.
