Castillo Ducal de Espejo crowns a hilltop at 418 meters in the Córdoba municipality of Espejo, currently owned by the Duchy of Osuna. Constructed in the 13th century, this fortress features an nearly square plan with four corner towers joined by crenellated walkways and cubic merlons. Notable architectural elements include the imposing Torre del Homenaje with its rectangular plan and distinctive thick merlons, and the Torre del Caballero defending the southern approach. Originally called Alcalat during Islamic rule, it received its current name after King Ferdinand IV's 1303 recognition as a lordship. Today the castle welcomes visitors with organized guided tours that reveal its well-preserved medieval and Renaissance features.
