Castillo de Tahal is a 15th-century Christian fortress located in the Sierra de los Filabres mountains of Almería, built atop a possible Islamic structure to control communications between valley settlements. The castle features a distinctive rectangular Torre del Homenaje (homage tower) measuring 17.4 by 13.50 meters, originally surrounded by a fortified square with circular corner towers and a cistern for self-sufficiency during sieges. Now consolidated as a ruin, it remains accessible for heritage tourism, offering insights into the region's defensive architecture during the Christian Reconquest period.
