Castillo de Biniés

Castillo de Biniés perches dramatically on the northern edge of the town of Biniés in Jacetania, overlooking the Veral River from a clifftop position in Huesca's Canal de Berdún municipality. With documented origins in the 9th century cartulary of San Juan de la Peña, the fortress underwent continuous expansion and renovation through the 16th century, eventually transitioning from military stronghold to a palatial residence for the ruling Urriés family. The rectangular castle features an uncovered interior courtyard with an original medieval tower at the northeast corner and a 14th-century tower at the southeast, preserving the remnants of multiple periods of medieval construction and aristocratic habitation.
