Castillo de Alcalá del Júcar rises dramatically on a spur overlooking the Júcar River bend in Albacete province, Castile-La Mancha. Originally built by the Almohads in the 12th-13th centuries, this strategic fortress changed hands repeatedly during the medieval period before its current form took shape during 15th-century renovations. The castle features a distinctive pentagonal tower with two circular turrets containing three interior levels, and though damaged during later conflicts, underwent comprehensive restoration between 1964 and 1985. Visitors enjoy panoramic views of the town and landscape from this landmark medieval stronghold.
