Castelo de Aldán

Castelo de Aldán is a seventeenth-century manor house located in the parish of Aldán within Cangas, Pontevedra, built by the influential Figueroa family, one of the region's most prominent noble lineages. Constructed with granite stone characteristic of Galician architecture, the tower retains architectural details including Gothic windows and decorative moldings on its facade, testifying to its original elegance despite current abandonment. The castle features a small moat and two iron beams marking where a drawbridge once stood. The property is situated within the Bosque Encantado (Enchanted Forest), an area where construction of a recreational development began in the 1960s but remained incomplete. Originally belonging to the Counts of Canalejas, the castle's history reflects the region's aristocratic heritage, with the twentieth-century construction of a connecting road dividing the property and leaving the castle isolated from its surrounding gardens and enchanted forest landscape.
