Castelnaud-la-Chapelle Castle is a 13th-century fortress rising 150 meters above the Dordogne valley in Périgord Noir, approximately 9 km south of Sarlat. The imposing medieval stronghold houses the Museum of Medieval Warfare, featuring remarkable collections of authentic weapons, armor, and full-size siege machines. Year-round visitors can explore castle assault tactics, witness medieval theater performances, observe forging and trebuchet demonstrations, and participate in family treasure hunts. Evening spectacles run during July and August. The mostly covered site ensures comfort in any weather, while on-site dining and accessibility accommodations serve diverse visitors. Children under 10 receive free admission, and the castle welcomes leashed dogs.
