Castell Vell is an Andalusian fortress and the ancient capital of the region until conquered by Jaume I in 1233, who reorganized the territory into Almassora and Castelló. The castle's capture and the subsequent 1251 Privilege of Transfer granted to inhabitants directly led to the founding of modern-day Castelló. This Cultural Heritage Site exemplifies Islamic military architecture with a powerful wall system featuring four circular towers and one pentagonal tower positioned at the summit. The 400-meter marked trail includes self-guided interpretation with audiovisual presentations available in Valencian, Spanish, English, and French through the adjacent Information Centre.
