Castell Templer de Gardeny stands as a 12th-century Romanesque fortress built by the Knights Templar on Gardeny Hill in Lleida. Constructed immediately after the 1149 Reconquista of Lleida under Count Ramon Berenguar IV, it served as one of the most powerful Templar commanderies in the Crown of Aragon. Following the order's dissolution in 1312, it passed to the Knights Hospitaller, who maintained the complex for four centuries. Today's visitors encounter the Templar church, fortress walls, and museum exhibits detailing the Knights Templar's eight-century presence in Iberia. Its imposing ruins form part of the broader Domus Templi Route connecting five major Templar strongholds across eastern Spain.
