Castell d'Eramprunyà

Castell d'Eramprunyà is located in Gavà, Baix Llobregat, and stands among Catalonia's oldest documented castles, first referenced in 957. Built as a frontier fortress between Al-Andalus and the Carolingian Empire, it served as an administrative and military control center for the Eramprunyà Castle Term, which once encompassed modern Gavà, Begues, Castelldefels, and surrounding municipalities. Originally owned by the Counts of Barcelona, the castle was acquired by the March family in the 14th century and sustained significant damage during the 15th-century Remensa Wars. The ruins sit atop a mountain flanked by cliffs with panoramic views of the Llobregat Delta and Garraf. The adjacent Chapel of Sant Miquel d'Eramprunyà combines a 12th-century Romanesque apse with Renaissance additions from 1509, including the nave and portal.
