Castell de Vulpellac

Castell de Vulpellac is an exemplary Gothic-Renaissance palace-castle located in the town of Vulpellac, within the Baix Empordà region of Girona. Documented from 1269, the fortress evolved through several ownership changes including the Sant Sadurní and Sarriera families. The structure dates primarily to the 13th or 14th centuries, though significantly reformed in modern times, with a main tower possibly from the Early Middle Ages. In the 16th century, Miquel de Sarriera converted it into a Gothic palace. The castle stands next to the village church and represents an important example of medieval-to-Renaissance civil architecture transformation.
