Castell de Segur stands as a castle ruin in Veciana, Catalonia, situated at approximately 758 meters elevation overlooking the medieval landscape. Originally controlled by the Cardona family from the 13th century, the castle later passed to the Calders, Copons, Grimau, and Vilallonga families, each leaving their mark on the structure. In 1616, the viceroy of Catalonia ordered the castle's destruction to eliminate its use as a hideout for bandits. Today designated as a cultural heritage site (bien de interés cultural) since 1988, the castle ruins preserve evidence of its strategic importance in Catalonian feudal society.
