Castell de Seguer

Castell de Seguer in Pontils within Tarragona's Conca de Barberà comarca is a medieval fortress first documented in 1077 as a frontier defence tower against Saracen incursions. By the 14th century, the Montagut family controlled it under the feudal authority of the Cervelló lineage. Around the 17th century, the original medieval structure was transformed into a residential manor house, though only a severely damaged section survives today featuring a coronella window at its highest point. An adjacent chapel, also deteriorated, completes the ensemble. Designated a national cultural asset requiring urgent restoration, the site currently faces ongoing deterioration from neglect and inappropriate neighbouring development.
