Castell de Sant Jaume in Castellví de Rosanes, Baix Llobregat, dates to the 9th century with documented origins as Castrum Vetulo (Old Castle) from 963. This complex fortification belonged to the Baronia de Castellví de Rosanes and features at its summit a tower with a circular base approximately 10 meters in diameter, of which base stones remain preserved. The chapel of Sant Jaume, situated at the foot of the castle near a manor house, was built toward the end of the 11th century. The castle was destroyed in 1714 by Philippist forces during the War of Spanish Succession, yet remnants of this baronial fortress continue to mark the landscape of this Barcelona province municipality.
