Castell de Roset stands atop a rocky hilltop at 1,042 meters elevation in Villada, Barcelona province. First mentioned in 954 and documented from 1026, this 12th-century castle belonged to the honor of Portella and the barony of Pinós, with the Roset family serving as primary lords during the conflicted 15th century. Later passing to the Boatella family in the 17th century, the castle remained an administrative seat rather than a residence until its abandonment around the mid-18th century. Declared a Cultural Asset of Interest in 1949, the castle's remains preserve evidence of medieval feudal governance and territorial control in the Catalan highlands.
