Castell de Pijoèrt, situated in the municipality of Les in northeastern Catalonia, dates to the 11th century and is first documented in historical records from 1265 when King James I visited. The castle belonged to the Les feudal lineage, documented in 1283. Today, the fortification preserves the tower called de Pijoèrt, where the feudal lord resided, along with adjoining sections of the original stone perimeter wall that once enclosed the entire castle complex. This medieval stronghold represents the defensive architecture of Catalan frontier territories during the Romanesque period.
