Castell de Palol d'Onyar

Castell de Palol d'Onyar rises in the village of Palol d'Onyar within Quart municipality in Girona province, first documented in historical records during 1279. This medieval fortified house likely reached completion in the 13th or 14th century, with recorded ownership transferred to Dalmau de Palol in 1350, then to his daughter Sibylla. The ensemble, situated on a hilltop overlooking the landscape, features flattened walls on the north and west sides with loopholes for defensive purposes, connected directly to the adjacent church of Sant Sadurní. The castle's central courtyard communicates with both the residential structure and the chapel, exemplifying the integration of domestic and religious architecture characteristic of Catalonian noble holdings.
