Castell de les Escaules is a declared cultural asset of national interest located in the municipality of Boadella and Les Escaules, Alt Empordà, Girona. The castle rises on a rocky peak at 235 meters altitude, dominated by a well-preserved cylindrical tower standing 10 meters high. Originally documented in 1123, the current remains date from the 14th-15th centuries and include a trapezial walled enclosure with some intact walls. Strategically positioned to guard the border between the counties of Empúries and Besalú, the castle offers dramatic valley views and serves as a starting point for hiking trails combining heritage, nature, and fluvial landscapes.
